Don't Take Our Words! Hear What our Beneficiaries say
Daniel, age 8, had never had a playdate before joining AllegramiaAutism Foundation’s weekend workshops. With gentle guidance and peer interaction, he invited a classmate over to build LEGO together. His mom shared, “It was the happiest I’ve ever seen him. He finally felt included.
Daniel’s First Playdate
At age 7, Emeka had never zipped his jacket on his own. After a few sessions with AllegramiaAutism Foundation’s fine motor skills program, he proudly zipped up before heading out to play. His mom said, “It may seem small, but for us, it was monumental.”
Zipping Up Confidence
Food aversions were a daily challenge for 9-year-old Seyi. Through AllegramiaAutism Foundation’s sensory-friendly meal sessions, he began trying new foods calmly. His parents now enjoy family dinners without stress, calling it “a gift we never thought possible.”
Trying New Foods Without Meltdown
When 10-year-old Kelechi felt unwell, he used to cry without being able to explain. After working with AllegramiaAutism Foundation’s communication team, he pointed to his head and said “It hurts.” His mom said, “That moment changed how we care for him.”
Using Words to Express Pain
Chiamaka was terrified of performing in front of others. Thanks to AllegramiaAutism Foundation’s confidence-building activities and custom social stories, she joined her classmates in a school play—dressed as a butterfly and beaming with pride. Her teacher said, “She found her wings.”
Chiamaka on Stage
During a community outing organized by AllegramiaAutism Foundation, 12-year-old Ifeoma surprised everyone by walking up to the café counter, ordering her lunch, and paying—all without assistance. Her dad said, “She’s never done that before. It was a huge leap in independence.”
Ordering Lunch Independently
Haircuts used to be traumatic for 5-year-old Zara. With AllegramiaAutism Foundation’s desensitization techniques and social stories, she recently had her first haircut without a meltdown. Her stylist said, “She sat like a champ. It was beautiful to witness.”
First Haircut Without Tears
“I started volunteering at AllegramiaAutism Foundation after attending a parent workshop for my nephew. What began as helping out during weekend events quickly became a passion. I now assist with art therapy sessions, and watching the children express themselves through color and creativity is deeply moving. One moment I’ll never forget was when 10-year-old Bolu painted a picture of his family and proudly said, ‘This is us happy.’ That was the first time he’d ever described an emotion out loud. I realized then that even a few hours a week can change lives. Volunteering here has changed mine too.”
